Capital of Tech
Germany is the biggest country by population in EU and also the Country with the most Meetup Communities in the Tech category: 3.676 versus 3.322 of UK communities. If we go deeper we find out that this category is extremely active! The average event participants are 23,41 while the world average is just 6.34.
But communities in Germany aren’t all about Tech! Career & Business makes 20% of all the Meetup Communities, and Entrepreneurship is the biggest topic we can find in the topic distribution tree map. They also care a lot about Self-Improvement and Innovation, and everything about Wellness, Healthy Living and so on are very popular!
So, we have a lot of communities, but where are them? Berlin, of course! The capital has 3.357 communities, more than twice than Munich and three times than Hamburg. In this three cities, the biggest communities are about Language & Culture, despite this category is just 3% of the total in Germany.

Where does this data comes from?
Those results are the synthesis of tracing more than 9.860 communities in Germany, active on Meetup as well as Facebook groups & pages, Twitter and other platforms.
The data is gathered through The Community Atlas, the worlds largest database of communities.
We considered a total of 24 topic categories. All the topics that occurred on less than 1.6% of the total were collected under the heading “Other”.
